Marjorie Hudson is the author of Indigo Field, a novel (Sir Walter Raleigh Award), Accidental Birds of the Carolinas, stories (PEN/Hemingway Finalist), and Searching for Virginia Dare, history/memoir (NC Notable Book). She is recipient of many fellowships and grants, and has been writer in residence at Headlands Center for the Arts (Sausalito, CA), Hedgebrook Retreat for Women Writers (Whidbey Island, WA), Ucross Center for the Arts (Ucross, WY) and the NC Arts Incubator (Siler City, NC). She lives in Chatham County, NC, where she mentors writers, promotes Black history, and reads poetry to trees.
