The SRB is Looking for New Editors

The Southern Review of Books is looking to add a Daily Editor, a Communications Director, and Film/Stage Play Reviewers to our all-volunteer team!

Daily Editor: The main responsibility will be to edit one review or interview by a contributing writer per week and participate in monthly editorial meetings. This would be a great role for someone with strong editing skills and a love for books of all genres. Ideally this person would be based in the South, but we will consider applications from folks living elsewhere.

Communications Director: The main responsibility will be to manage our social media accounts, and participate in monthly editorial meetings. This would be a great role for someone with strong editing skills and a love for Twitter and books of all genres. Ideally this person would be based in the South, but we will consider applications from folks living elsewhere.

If interested, please send your resume and a short statement of interest to our editor-in-chief, Chelsea Risley, with the editorial position you’re interested in as the subject line. Reach her at editors@southernreviewofbooks.com.

We’re also always open for new contributors! If you love the South and books of all genres, we’d love to hear from you! If you’re interested in reviewing books/graphic novels/films/plays, interviewing authors, or otherwise contributing to the SRB (features, essays), email us at editors@southernreviewofbooks.com with a link to your writing (personal websites are fine; no attachments, please).

If you’re pitching a specific book for a review or interview, note that with a few exceptions, we cover new books the same month they’re published, and we avoid conflicts of interest when assigning review coverage (i.e., no personal connections between critics and authors). Also note that we are currently all volunteers; here’s a good list of paying outlets.
